My arch-nemesis … weight loss.

Here we are. Day One of weight loss attempts and McFatty Monday. I have 10 more pounds to go before per-pregnancy weight, then another 40 after that to get to my ideal weight.

It’s not a lofty goal. I’ve been that weight before (50 lbs lighter than now). In fact, I was there just two years ago! I did it with the help of eDiets, which was a great weight loss guide.

This time, we don’t really have the budget for a paid program, so I’m doing it on my own. I know how to eat healthy and I have TONS of weight watchers and eDiets recipes that I know even Timmy will eat. It’s just a matter of buying the ingredients for these recipes, which, again, isn’t quite in the budget.

It’s hard to eat healthy when you can’t afford fresh produce on a weekly basis. It’s so much cheaper (and easier) to just buy a frozen pizza.

But damnit, I’m doing it. I’m going to be a hot mom if it kills me! Well, not really, but you get my drift.

So for now, portion control is the name of the game. That, and no more pop and chips for breakfast and lunch. So not healthy.

For working out, since I can’t afford either a gym membership or workout machines, power walking will suffice. I’ll take Aric to the Mall of America (or maybe other malls when I get bored of that one, but since I live 10 blocks away from it, it’s the easiest choice) every other day and walk at least two floors. And I have to actually walk each floor … not shop. Again, this will be easy since I don’t have the money to shop! One the weather warms up above, well, in June, we can walk outside. But for now, we will tour the malls of the greater Twin Cities!

Wish me luck, and say goodbye to my fat (hopefully!)!

EDITED: I just spent the rest of my Visa gift card on the 30-day Shred DVD and some hand weights to go along with it. Oh, and a new scale to replace the one Timmy broke. I guess it’s time for Jillian Michaels to kick my ass!

A bit of attention whoring…

Could you ever so kindly look to your right? You will notice two boxes, one says Top Mommy Blogs, and one says Top Baby Blogs. Would you please go ahead an clicky on both of those boxes?
Thank you kindly!

Also, as a heads up, I will be joining Blair and her McFatty Mondays. Each Monday I will let you know where I am as far as my pregnancy weight loss and my personal goal. I will not, however, be posting belly progression pics. Lets just say that with a baggy shirt on, I don’t look like I have flab, and I’m certainly nowhere near bikini weight.

So, be prepared for Monday updates on my newest goal: weight loss while juggling a baby … you’d think that would make it easier!

2009 in review

Most of these answers will be baby related. Oh, and here are 2008′s answers!

1. What did you do in 2009 that you’d never done before? Got pregnant and had a beautiful baby boy!

2. Did you keep your new years’ resolutions, and will you make more for next year? I don’t know that I made any, actually. Maybe getting pregnant was one, and I certainly did that!

3. How did you spend New Year’s Eve? Creating Miis for the Wii, drinking beers with the hubs, and hoping a certain child stayed asleep long enough for us to ring in the new year together. I fell asleep at 12:05.

4. Did anyone close to you die? Tim’s grandfather died the end of July.

5. What countries did you visit? Canada! We went to a friend’s cabin on Rainy Lake for the weekend. Very relaxing, but it would have been more fun had I not been the only sober person there.

6. What would you like to have in 2010 that you lacked in 2009? More money :)

7. What date from 2009 will remain etched upon your memory, and why? November 13, for obvious reasons. Best. Friday the 13th. Ever.

8. What was your biggest achievement(s) of the year? Becoming a mother. It’s no small feat surviving pregnancy, labor, and delivery (or, major abdominal surgery in which a living creature is torn from your insides).

9. What was your biggest failure? Not saving enough money to keep us from drowning while I’m on leave.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury? I’m pretty sure pregnancy can be considered illness :)

11. What was the best thing you bought? Furniture for the house and adorable baby clothes!

12. Where did most of your money go? The baby

13. What song will always remind you of 2009? Come back to me on that one. I’m not sure yet.

14. What do you wish you’d done more of? Like last year, I wish I’d've spent more time with friends.

15. What do you wish you’d done less of? I wish I would have done less worrying and freaking out about parenthood. It’s really a lot of fun!

16. What was your favorite TV program? Grey’s Anatomy, The Office, and all the Showtimes shows I’ve been watching on Netflix!

17. Do you hate anyone now that you didn’t hate this time last year? Nope! I try really hard not to hate anyone, even if they deserve it!

18. What was the best book you read? Crap, here we are at another year in which I haven’t read a book. I really have to get on that! Maybe that should be my New Years Resolution.

19. What was your greatest musical discovery? Kings of Leon

20. What was your favorite film of this year? The Hangover. Although Star Trek and District 9 were surprising favorites.

21. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you? I turned 25 and spent the evening playing board games with friends. They all got drunk and I went to bed before anyone had left! Silly 1st trimester!

22. What kept you sane? My Timmy.

23. Who did you miss? My friends. I was pregnant so I wasn’t able to go “out” with them as much, and as a result, I didn’t get invited out as much. Granted, I didn’t really make an effort to hang out with them either.

24. Who was the best new person you met? The doctor that removed Aric from me :)

25. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2009. Nothing is ever what you expect it to be, but it is always worth it in the end.
