Remember about a year ago when I launched an Etsy shop? I was SO excited about it! I took a day off work so I could SEW ALL THE THINGS!! and get all prepared for the launch. I got a professional blog makeover so I could have a matching blog and shop (although I totally don’t regret that!). I even did some research to see what people liked/didn’t like about my products.
And then I launched. And realized that I have absolutely NO marketing skills. None.
Sure I did a couple giveaways and sales and what not. But I could have done more. Only I didn’t know how, and didn’t have the time to do the research to learn how.
And I’m not being self-deprecating, either! When I told my mom my Etsy shop was basically a flop, she said “Oh, yeah. Your shop. I could have bought some Christmas gifts from you, huh?” Yeah. My MOM even forgot about my shop, that’s how crappy I was at marketing myself!!
At this point, I think it’s time to throw in the towel. I had fun being a small business owner while it lasted. I learned just how much work is behind owning a business like this, and I learned that it just isn’t for me. It was a fun experience, though! Besides, I just don’t know that I’ll have the time to commit to it now with TWO kids, work, and school. I have to make cuts somewhere!
With that said, please don’t think this means I’m giving up sewing! I still love doing it! I’ve even started making super cute (andĀ absorbentĀ ) burp cloths. I’d like to improve my lovie-making skills. I learned how to make better pillow slip covers! I’ve seen some cute pillowcase dresses that I’d like to try and make for Abby. I just don’t think I’ll be attempting to sell my goods. Maybe if someone has a specific request I could, but I think I’ll just stick to sewing for the fun of it and giving my stuff away as gifts.
So. What does that mean? It means I need to get rid of what’s left in my shop. I have SO MANY coaster sets that I need to get out of my sewing room, so I’m closing them out at 50% off with the code CLOSEOUT. I may even be selling some sets at an even deeper discount on instagram; I’ll keep you posted on when/if that will happen and what my instagram shop name will be.
But for now, head over to my Etsy shop, check out what’s there, and stock up on future gifts or new items for yourself at 50% off. Just enter the code CLOSEOUT at the checkout!
And THANK YOU for being so supportive of my shop. Even if it wasn’t as big of a success as I wanted, it was still fun

Aww – while I’m sad to see your shop close I think you did a rocking good job! Your products are great and I’m proud to have them in my home (and classroom).
You can be sure I”ll turn to you if I need anything sewn…
You did well, lady. Pat yourself on the back!

Well thanks! Like I said, it was fun while it lasted, but I learned that small business owning is just not for me! At least I gave it a shot, though!
And thanks for the purchase

If you figure out pillowcase dresses, I’d totally buy one from you – you don’t need to open a shop or anything, I can just PayPal you.
