I can use my sewing machine!

It’s true, I have a sewing machine. AND I use it! I’ve made both of Aric’s lovies (warning: that link leads to an adorable picture of a baby Aric and a baby goat!), his quilt, and lovies for four other babies that have been born in the past year or so. Oh yeah, and a purse.

I’m actually on my second machine, since my first one burnt out from too much use! Actually, that’s probably a lie. But it’s true that it doesn’t work. So now I have this baby:

She ain’t purdy and she don’t got bells or whistles. And that marker under the power cord? If that weren’t there, she’d have no power. But this old gal is a work horse! She’s been around for a long while, and has been entrusted to me until I can afford my own $600 sewing machine. Which may never happen. Shoot, it took my mom 40 some odd years to afford hers, so I think it’ll be a while before I can get my own fancy pants one that has the option of a turtle stitch.

During my week off, I discovered that I can do more than just crappily made lovies. I can make coasters, too! And they are cute! And I love making them! And I made 15 sets of them. And have enough fabric to make about 10 more sets.

I think I have an addiction.

Any who.

I have some ideas for these coasters. They aren’t big fancy ideas, but ideas none the less.

This is where I need your help. I need a few of you to test these out for me. I need you to use them and abuse them. I need you to test them out for me and give me your honest opinion on them. Here’s a crappy cell phone picture of what one of the sets looks like:

If you’re interested in being one of my guinea pigs, leave a comment on this post. I’ll contact the first three commenters and send them some pictures of the other sets I’ve made. Then I’ll send you a set if your choice. In exchange, you promise to use them and abuse them, and fill out a little online survey (which has not been made yet but I’ll send you the link after I send the coasters).

I don’t know if I’m going to do anything with all these stacks of coasters piling up, but still, some input would be cool!

Thankies :) And I’ll be sure to let you know if I should be looking to do something more with these coasters. Like sell them. Or something.
