As I’ve done in both 2008 and 2009, I will fill out this lovely questionnaire about what I did in 2010:
1. What did you do in 2010 that you’d never done before? Whew, this year was a lot of firsts. I started anti-depressants and therapy. I took an 8 month old camping … in a tent!! I became a working mom and learned just how stressful that can be. And? I won my first ever radio call-in contest so I could attend my very first ever Twins playoff game!
2. Did you keep your new years’ resolutions, and will you make more for next year? I don’t make resolutions, usually. Mostly because they are broken within days. But this year my resolution is to spend more “quality” time with Timmy …. if you get my drift.
3. How did you spend New Year’s Eve 2010? Playing the Wii (which is what we did last year, too), inventing our own Mythbusters Drinking Game, eating lots of snack food, and some “quality” time (kicking off my resolution with a bang!!). Also, I’m done with the sex references. Sorry about that.
4. Did anyone close to you die? Tim’s grandmother died in August.
5. What countries did you visit?
No countries visited.
6. What would you like to have in 2011 that you lacked in 2010? More patience, more understanding. Oh, and more money ![]()
7. What date from 2010 will remain etched upon your memory, and why? Mother’s Day. This was seriously the turning point in my recovery! Also, that day in July when I took a ride with my baby in an ambulance and saw him laying there, not breathing. Actually, I kinda want to forget that day.
8. What was your biggest achievement(s) of the year? Kicking PPD’s ASS!! Also, finally figuring out what I want to be with I grow up.
9. What was your biggest failure? Not budgeting our money properly. It took almost an entire year, but we are FINALLY back on top!
10. Did you suffer illness or injury? Yep. The lovely depression.
11. What was the best thing you bought? Oooo … good question. I don’t remember if we made any big purchases this year. Maybe it was the membership to the zoo. That’s been a great place to take Aric when we have a spare hour. He LOVES looking out the windows to see the different creatures. Tim says the best thing we bought were tickets to opening day
12. Where did most of your money go? The baby
13. What song will always remind you of 2010? Just Breathe, by Pearl Jam.
14. What do you wish you’d done more of? Spent more 1:1 time with Aric.
15. What do you wish you’d done less of? Feeling constant Mommy Guilt and thinking that I’m a bad mother. Because I’m so not!
16. What was your favorite TV program? TV? Hmmm …. Modern Family, fo sho. Oh, and Dexter.
17. Do you hate anyone now that you didn’t hate this time last year? Hate is such a strong word. Besides, the person that I strongly disliked last year isn’t in my life any more. So there.
18. What was the best book you read? The Dexter series. Holy crap, dare I say … It’s better than the TV show!
19. What was your greatest musical discovery? Um …. I discovered Children’s radio on Pandora, and I can stream it on my phone in my car through the aux jack, which makes Aric infinitely less cranky in the car. Which is a very great thing.
20. What was your favorite film of this year? I saw 2 in the theaters this year: Despicable Me and The Social Network. Both were fantastic!
21. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you? I turned 26 and spent the day at the Twins home opener … and the BRAND NEW outdoor stadium!!
22. What kept you sane? My Timmy and my little squishy squiggle butt (Aric, in case you thought I was referring to my own ass).
23. Who did you miss? My non-baby friends. Although, I have to say, I met A LOT of new mom friends. It’s nice to have people who understand that meeting for coffee at 10am is much better than meeting for drinks at 9pm…at least when there is a baby involved, LOL!
24. Who was the best new person you met? All of my twitter/bloggy friends. Yes, that sounds nerdy, but seriously. These ladies are there for anything and everything anyone could need. I’m proud to be in this neat group of women (and some men
).
25. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2010. I’ve learned to identify my needs and that it’s OK for me to get what I need. And that I’m a fan-freaking-tastic mother
Happy new year to you all! Wishing you all nothing but the best in 2011!
